An Atheist Christmas
My wife and I will be leaving later today for a weekend at my mom's home and the home of my wife's parents. And if you are wondering, the answer is yes; we will be celebrating and having a good time with my Christian family even though my wife and I are atheists. You see, Christmas to us has always been a time for celebration and good cheer and not a celebration of the birth of a religious leader. I know that a lot of Christians seem to have a really hard time dealing with that fact, but I am afraid that this is the case with millions around the world. In the case of my wife and I, we love the holiday season (Christmas or whatever you want to call it), we just don't believe in Jesus Christ. We love the holiday lights, we enjoy giving gifts, we put up a Christmas tree, we decorate our house, we have a few egg nog, we fellowship with our friends. We do everything you Christians do without once considering that we are doing it for or in the name of a particular deity.
Like millions in the millennia before the stories of Christ, we find that the time near the Winter Solstice and the New Year is a great opportunity to celebrate life and love, to remember those who are no longer with us and to wish our friends and family well.
If you are looking for a 'war on Christmas', you won't find it with my wife and I. If most people behaved in the manner that they behave from Thanksgiving through New Years Day, then the world would probably be a better place. The world could use more good will toward mankind. We simply don't see religion or superstition as being a part of that good will and we don't think Christ or Christians have a monopoly on the season.
So as we prepare to leave for a secular celebration of Christmas with our Christian families, I would just like to with all of you Christian readers a very Merry Christmas!
And to my atheist readers; You are all going to hell!

I have but one thing to say about the photo; More Cowbell!
The funny thing is that I actually do favor that character now that I have had by once per decade hair cut.
